To begin with a leader. Who is he? Many scientists think that a leader is an interesting, energetic, charismatic, respected and confident human. I think that a leader must have next qualities: He must be:
1. Self Starter - Leaders are made, not found.
2.Ability to see the big picture - vision.
3.Selector of good people - People are the most important asset.
4.Trainer of people - Motivator - Build a team.
5.Good communicator - Good listener.
6.Risk taker.
7.High energy level - hard work is the only career plan.
8.Sense of Humor - Doesn't take himself/herself too seriously.
9.Strategic thinker.
Let's not hide the fact that the leader is a person who is able to subjugate the people, if people listen to him, he has power to affect their opinion. Absolute leaders at all times has been considered brave and looking forward in time people. It is a common perception that leaders are born, not made. This may be true to some extent because many people display some intrinsic traits right from birth, which put them in the position where they are looked up as leaders. A person’s authoritativeness, confidence in speech and action and the ability to handle crisis without panic are considered some of the most effective leadership qualities, which sets people apart from the crowd. Given below are some more qualities that a good leader should have.
Confidence should exude in every word you say; in everything you do. Have the confidence to manage people and show them the right path, whenever they seek your guidance. People who see panic or uncertainty in the eyes of their leader won’t consider him/her worth depending upon, in the time of crisis.
Consistency is an important leadership quality. Maintain your own way of approach and do not change it radically. Displaying inconsistency will confound others. Remember, you are a part of the team. Therefore, before expecting consistency from others, ensure that you are stable on your part.
A leader should be able to reach the people around him/her effectively. Good communication skills are, in fact, key to become a good leader. If you possess all the above qualities, but the “very important” communication skill is lacking in you, you can never become a good leader.
Leaders Can Be Made
Natural leadership is a gift that not many have, and it can be of great use to those who embrace it and learn how to polish that skill. In the end, leadership is a skill. Those born with the natural traits of a good leader can go on to be great leaders with knowledge and practice, but others can also learn to be good leaders by embracing the right training and acquiring the necessary knowledge.
Whether leadership is natural to you or not, you can still become a good leader.
