There are many customs in the world that will make you plunge into the depths of culture and will never leave you neither interested nor indifferent. All countries have their own special traditions and customs that reflect the culture of the people and one of them is a solemn meal as a way of communication.
I start with the fact that in Russian culture there is a common custom to prepare different salads for any significant event. And one special dish is associated with the New Year holiday. It's a salad "Olivier". Few people know that the French chef Lucien Olivier had invented the prominent salad, but this salad is the undisputed favorite of the festive event on New Year’s Eve. Initially, the salad was prepared according to the family traditions of the founder, but under the influence of fashion, the recipe was completely changed. Unlike the original, its modern version is the complete opposite and as a result even closer to the Russian soul.
So, the recipe is very simple. Firstly, you should boil the vegetables, eggs and meat. You can use chicken or beef, depending on your taste preferences. And the meat can be replaced with sausage. Secondly, you have to dice them all. Then, you must put the most important thing in the salad recipe-green pea. Therefore, it represents New Year’s atmosphere. Finally, you need to put mayonnaise in this culinary masterpiece and mix everything. You shouldn’t forget to add fresh greenery.
As for my family, in the New Year holidays we have a unique tradition to come to visit relatives or friends and bring your salad. I believe that sharing food, it might, the most generous tradition among all cultures. It’s the cause of family togetherness, which is by means important in any society. I respect this way of communication very much.
To sum up, food is an important part of the cultural life and habits of all people. In each country there are favorite dishes, special traditions in the laying of the table and cooking, which may symbolizes to unity and trust.
