Прочитайте и переведите текст. Составьте пересказ на 10-15 предложений на английском языке (пересказ делается письменно
The British nation is the most conservative in Europe. Every nation and every country has its own customs and traditions. In the UK, people pay more attention to traditions and customs than in other European countries. There are many customs, and some of them are very ancient. There is a marble championship where the champion is crowned. There is also a rowing competition on the River Thames, where teams sail for distillations. The British think that horse racing is the most exciting race in the world. Both amateurs and professionals can participate in this race. This is a very famous holiday. There are many holidays in May, for example, Halloween, a day when children dress up in unusual costumes. Another tradition is bonfire night, when children make different figures out of straw. On November 5th, children burn these figures. At the end of the year, the most famous holiday takes place - this is the New Year's holiday. At 12 a.m. on December 31, people come to Trafalgar Square and dance. The Edinburgh Festival of Music and Drama is an annual popular Scottish holiday. Eisteddfod, the annual Bard Festival, a national festival of traditional poetry and music, with a competition for the best new poem in Welsh. The British do not use an international, globally accepted system of measures. They kept their old measures. The British always determine the weight of people in pounds and stones. If we are always used to using units of the metric system, then the English monetary system would be difficult for us to understand. They have a pound sterling, which is divided into twenty shillings, half a crown is worth two shillings and sixpence, a shilling is worth twelve pennies, one penny can be exchanged for two halfpennies.

Russia is a unique country with a centuries-old history and national customs.
The first holiday of the year is the New Year. People celebrate the new year at midnight on December 31. Russians celebrate the New year with champagne and listen to the Kremlin chimes counting down 12 strokes. Every house has a Christmas tree sparkling with colored lights and decorations. Children are always waiting for Santa Claus to come and give them gifts. I believe that the New Year is a family holiday.
On March 8th we celebrate Women's Day, when men do everything around the house and set the table.Once a year, women can relax and forget about all these worries, cooking, children, they can arrange a day off.
The biggest holiday in our country is Victory Day. On May 9, 1945, the Soviet army and its allies completely defeated the German fascists and the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War ended. Many veterans take part in the military parade and lay wreaths at the grave of the Unknown Soldier. Radio and television broadcast popular military songs.
At the very end of winter, spring drove away the cold and cold, the Maslenitsa holiday was coming. At this time, it was customary to bake pancakes, go to each other's houses, have fun and dress up, ride down the slides on a sled, burn an effigy.
Easter in Russia is a bright holiday of the resurrection of Christ. A day or two before Easter, cakes are baked and eggs are decorated with a variety of colors and patterns, but the compositional and predominant color is red. On Easter day, all acquaintances and strangers, oncoming and transversal kiss three times and exchange small Easter eggs and extraordinarily beautiful eggs. It is always warm and sunny at Easter. Russians en masse with their families and friends tend to go out into the fresh air with shish kebab and delicious tinctures.
In Russia there are many other traditions associated with baptism, wedding, funeral. But for a better understanding of the country, you should visit it during the main religious holidays.
I like the Maslenitsa holiday because this holiday takes place in the spring, seeing off the cold winter, you are waiting for a warm spring. The holiday atmosphere itself is very pleasant.
New Year is a time of fun, miracles and magic. Absolutely everyone is always waiting for this holiday with great pleasure: both adults and children. I Love New Year. And this is my favorite holiday.I love watching the pre-holiday hustle and bustle every year and the preparations that start weeks before the holiday itself. People rush to different stores in order to have time to buy gifts for their relatives and friends, home decorations and various treats for the festive table. Shop windows and facades of houses are decorated with various shimmering garlands, thanks to which in the evenings everything around shines and shimmers so beautifully, providing a festive mood to everyone around. For me, the New Year is always a family holiday, when all family members and relatives gather at a large festive table. They give each other gifts, voice goals for the next year and express their most sincere wishes. In the New Year, you always want to believe in miracles, regardless of age.
