Task 1
Flat 35
20, 57th South West Avenue
New York, New York 10025
Dear Alex,
Thanks so much for your call yesterday. I really miss all our guys. How is everything without me? Have you find new deputy?
I started work at new place week ago. Right now I have no car and use metro to get to work. I catch a train near my house and I'm at work in twenty five minutes. It is more convenient here.
My flat is a bit more than that back home. So, for me and my family everything is almost the same. You can check the video I sent. We unpacked everything from boxes, boys love their bunkbed – they decided to change once a week who will sleep on top.
We’re enjoying learning new language. There are nice people around and they help with English a lot to me and Sonya. Boys already made friends with some kids. And they talk using Russian and English words together.
For me it is a bit easier at work – commands are better to remember. And it is very hard with TV – they speak so fast! I understand only one word in two sentences. But there are some Russian channels – we plan to buy one from next month.
I will come back in four months to take some final papers – I will be glad to see you all.
Anyway, that’s about it for the moment. Look after yourself and keep in touch.
All the best,
Sergey
Task 2
The best way to find the job is to seek for one.
If to put jokes away you should write your CV and place it in the Internet. There are different special sites which help with search. They contain advices how to write your CV, you take all your experience and put it in several words in special form. It is better to describe all what you can do even if you think it is small and ordinary work operation. And you should divide it in two or three resumes, if you are looking for different roles or if want to take higher position. You should describe your experience for each sphere where you want to apply to.
The second thing you should do is to let your friends and neighbours know that you are open for new proposals. Some friend can help you saying that his or her company hires for the position you are interested in.
After informing all people around you and asking help, as well as creating CV you should constantly check for new opportunities browsing job sites, calling to different companies and going to interviews.
And if you completely want to change the sphere and go to something new you can apply for courses and trainings for unemployed people. Usually there are free.
So, there are different ways to find new job; it depends on your abilities and wishes. And if you lack experience or knowledge you always can apply for courses and training and broaden areas for job searching after finishing.
Task 3
Dear Mary and Tom,
How is everything with you? Have you received your Christmas present from us? Hope, it got safe to you and it will make you happy.
You would not believe in what I have to say. I have very exciting news. I am so happy; I am smiling even right now when writing this e-mail. On Saturday evening we went with Alisa to a Chinese restaurant. It is nice small restaurant in neighborhood but with great food. What’s more, it is cheaper than one next to the mall.
We had nice time talking and enjoying our meals when Alisa suddenly asked for fresh air. She looked very fair. I took her outside worrying and asking a lot of questions and trying to understand whether it was something wrong with her food. And she just shushed me and smiled saying she is pregnant. At that moment I took her in arms and started turning and kissing her, and laughing and crying. And snow was falling.
And I am so happy for us! It is really like great New Year’s present for me. Alisa surprised me a lot this year.
Next week we will go to the doctor for check-up. I am eager to know how baby is. I also will join this appointment with doctor; I’ve already agreed it with my boss.
So, this is all news for the moment from our family.
Take care and took to you soon.
Yours,
John’s family.

Task 6
Unemployment in my country can be a problem this year. It has started two years ago when pandemia started. It is critical for a small business. When it was a lockdown and people stayed home, no one visited small coffee shops or hotels as an example. This year a lot of foreign companies left my country due to political reasons. These companies who left are from different spheres and industries: car and food production, merchandise. A lot of people are left unemployed and have to change occupation or even to move to other cities and towns. Officially, there are no problems with unemployment, according to official sources it is at the same level as before – about 4%. Bur real problem concerns mono-industrial cities which were connected with one or two big players. Even if the plant stayed open, many workers were optimized. Now people are ready to work for a less money or performing several roles for the same salary as before. Situation may be even worse, if consider that those who left are people of working age, under 40.
