Тhe first thing to do in order to build a house is to level the ground and make the foundations, which made of cocrete. While the foundations are being built, the main drains must be laid to connect up to the publuc sewers.
Once the foundations and floor are comlete, the main part of the house can be built up. Heavy timbers must be used for supporting the roof and stairs and for door and window frames. For the rest of the structure lighter timber is used. As the house rises it necessary to provide scaffolding and platforms for the workers to stnd on.
The roof of the house may be flat or sloping. Rafters of wood are laid acroos, which are then covered with slates or tiles. They are laid so that they overlap and let the water run off.
A timber-framed house must be covered with either timber, bricks, or some other covering to finish the walls. There will be inslulating layer to keep warm and dry.
When the outer shell is complete, work can begin inside the house. The walls lined with plaster. Plastering must be carefully timed to fit in with the worknof the plumbers and electricians.
Plumbers lay the pipes for the water supply, heating system, and drainage. They also hsve to fixthe drainage pipes on the outside of the house, which will join up to the drains and sewers, and put in the bathroom and kitchen fittings to which the pipes are connected. Most of these pipes have to be hidden from view in the finished house. The plumber and electrician also work together in installing such things as central-heating boilers.
At the same time, carpenters will be working inside the house finishing the wooden floors, staircases, window frames and doors, as well as fitting cupboards. Last of all, the painters and decorators come in to paint the house inside and out.
Jane lives in the family of her deceased uncle. He brought her to live with them when Jane's parents died. Mr. and Mrs. Reed had a son and two daughters. The girls didn't like Jane, and John just hated her, often she got from him. Once, when he once again began to mock Jane, she rebuffed him. For this, she was put in a room under lock and key, in which there was a ghost of Mr. Reed.
Bessie and Miss Abbott dragged a struggling Jane into the red room. They once again explained to her that she lives in this house out of charity and should be a kind and helpful girl. The Red Room was rarely visited, because Mr. Reed had died in it once, and it brought back painful memories. The girl was outraged by the injustice and wondered why she should suffer.
With the onset of darkness, shadows crept across the room, the moonlight seemed to the girl like a ghost. She screamed and asked to be let out, but Miss Reed pushed her into the room and locked her in. Soon Jane lost consciousness.

The girl woke up already in the nursery. She was surprised that Bessie was treating her well, since Jane was ill. The pharmacist, Mr. Lloyd, was called to her to examine her. When he came the second time, Jane told him that she was very unhappy in this house and would be glad to go to school.

Jane felt that changes were coming, but time passed and nothing happened. Miss Reed forbade the children to communicate with Jane, and she treated her very coldly. One day Mr. Brocklehurst came and Jane found out that she was being sent to Lowood School. When they were alone with Miss Reed, the girl told her everything she thought about her.
