Information technology is the use of any computers, storage, networking and other physical devices, infrastructure and processes to create, process, store, secure and exchange all forms of electronic data.
Information and communication technologies (information technologies, IT) is a set of processes, methods and ways of research, collection, storage, processing, provision and information distribution. According to ISO/IEC 38500:2008 standard there is a definition of information technologies that it is the resources necessary for collection, processing, storage and distribution of information.
Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have essential difference from other fields of science and production. This difference consists in rapid development of means of the computer equipment and telecommunication networks. Today it is already impossible to speak simply about information technologies; it is possible to call it rather modern information technologies, which cover all areas of the modern life.
Computer is an electronic device that is designed to work with Information. The term computer is derived from the Latin term ‘computare’, this means to calculate or programmable machine.

A computer system is, of course, a computer itself with system and application software. In addition, a computer system is a set of devices participating in process of information transferring to a long distance. Such a system is also called a computer network.
The architecture of computer systems consists of the following components: computational and logical capabilities (command system, data formats, algorithms for performing operations);hardware (memory organization, management, organizationactions with external devices);software (operating systems, systems programming, application software). A computer is a programmable electronic device capable of process information, perform calculations and perform various stasks. The basis of computers is hardware, formed by electronic and electromechanical elements and devices. Principle computer work is to execute programs (Software), which given in advance and clearly defined by the sequence of arithmetic, logical and other operations.

Software (software) is a set of programs of an information processing system and software documents required for the operation of these programs (GOST 19781–90),or a set of programs, procedures and rules, as well as documentation,12related to the functioning of the data processing system (ST ISO2382 / 1–84).The software is divided as intended into system, applied and instrumental; by distribution method and private use (paid or limited by access rights)and open, i.e. free that can be distributed, installed and be used on any computer without restrictions. System software is a complex programs for efficient component management computing system – processor, RAM, input channels –output, network equipment, acting as an intermediate interface between hardware and user applications. System software does not solve specific applied problems, but only ensures the work of others programs, manages the hardware resources of a computing system, etc.
