The worth of wealth
Once upon a time there was a very poor man named Sagat. He and his family lived in poverty. They had no money, no food, and their house was falling down. One day, Sagat was exhausted and starving, so he sat down at the side of the road. He fell asleep, and as he slept, he dreamed. In his dream, he saw an old man with a long white beard. The man told him, “Wake up! Go to the abandoned house near where you are sleeping. Dig under the floor in front of the fireplace and you will find a magic purse. Every time you open and close the purse, a gold coin will appear inside. But remember, only a contended man can have an eternal feast”.
Sagat woke up and ran at once to the old house. He dug in the ground where the old man in his dream had told him to. As he dug, he said to himself, “If I find one gold coin, I’ll buy myself a big meal. If I find two gold coins, I’ll buy food for my whole family. If I find three gold coins, I’ll buy my wife a new dress”.
Sagat found the purse. He opened it. Inside, there was one gold coin. He closed it and opened it: two gold coins. Again, he closed the purse and opened it: three gold coins. Sagat laughed. He thought of the fine clothes he would buy and the enormous palace he would build. He would be richer than a prince! He opened and closed the purse a hundred times. He forgot about his hunger. He opened and closed it a hundred times more. He forgot about his family. For two weeks, he sat on the floor of the old house, opening and closing the purse, until his body was so tired and hungry that his heart stopped.

Hunting for treasure – the adventure of your life?
-
Everyone dreams of adventure involving tropical islands or oid boxes filled with jewellery and coinsfound in the wrecks of sunken ships. For some people these dreams have come true. lt is because theyneally know where to look for treasure.
B. One of the best places for treasure hunting is the Atlantic Ocean just off the eastern coast of Florida". This part of the Florida coast is actually called 'Treasure Coast' because of the many Spanish wrecksburied in the ocean's sand among the coral reefs. These sixteenth-, seventeenth- and eighteenthcenturyships sailing from Mexico to Seville all carried gold, silver and precious stones. The galleons, asthey were called, also transported Spanish soldiers and governors returning home from the colonieswith their own personal collections of gold.
C. An amazing thing is that the majority of the ships sank not very far from the coast. The reason for thiswas their sailing route, There was only one narrow channel used for navigation which ran north-southbetween the massive and dangerous coral reefs. During tropical storms or hurricanes which arecommon in late summer or early autumn, these galleons often broke into pieces.
D. In the second half of the twentieth century, a group of historians and navigation experts found recordsof shipwrecks in the Spanish archives, which indicate the location of each sunken galleon, Since then, the exploration of the sea bed has begun. First, there were scuba divers with metaldetectors. Then, with the discovery of the first Spanish galleon in the early l-970s, many companies became involved inthe treasure hunting. They were looking for items like the ships' anchors, captains' diaries and obviouslyfor gold, silver and coins.
E. Today, the hunt continues but it is an expensive game. lt requires costly equipment and expert divers" Itis time-consuming and exhausting work which requires long hours searching under water. Although itmay be quite dangerous, the results of the search may be unbelievably rewarding.
