a) You are the office manager. You need a secretary, a bookkeeper and a sales manager. Meet the candidates.

You have some new employees. Introduce them to the senior manager.

b) Interviewer. Think about these things:

  • How will you help the interviewee to relax?

  • What questions will you ask about education, personal qualities, and future plans?

  • Will you ask the interviewee if he \ she has any questions?

  • How will you finish the interview?

Interviewee. Think about these things:

  • Why do you want the job?

  • Why are you suitable for the job?

  • What qualifications, skills and personal qualities do you have?

  • What questions will you ask about the job, the company, and the salary?

Advice for interviewers

  1. Put a notice on the door so that people don’t interrupt. Make sure the chairs are all the same height, and don’t sit behind a desk.

  2. Help the applicant to relax. Give them a cup of coffee and ask about their journey.

  3. Don’t make a decision in the first minute.

  4. Don’t be afraid to ask difficult questions – they often get the best answers.

  5. Make a quick decision and tell the interviewees – nobody likes waiting to hear if they’ve got a job.
